For those of you driving cars to Kettering, to be reimbursed for your travel expenses, you must submit your starting address by Friday, March 26 to Kaili Kimbrow at Kaili.Kimbrow@ketteringhealth.org.
Externs Only | Please fill out the online application for Kettering College by Friday, March 26. If you have questions while filling out the application, please direct questions about the application to Admissions@kc.edu. In your email, inform them you are a summer extern.
For Your Information
Housing
Housing assignments will be posted on Friday, April 16. To request to room with someone, both people must fill out a Member Information Form naming the other as your preferred roommate. We are still monitoring whether anyone will have a roommate. We will let you know as soon as possible. Please fill out as if you will have one.
Currently, our lodging options consists of Dorm Rooms at Kettering College and several homes on the main campus that we call the Sears Homes. Placement will be determined at the discretion of the program director.
Please see the packing list for information on what to bring and the Kettering College Dorm and the Sears Homes. Also, please see FAQS for more information on the dorm. The Dorm at Kettering College is attached to Kettering Medical Center, the main hospital.
For those staying in the Sears homes, they are located within walking distance to Kettering College. These homes are fully furnished with appliances, sofas, beds and Wi-Fi. Sleeping arrangements can be made at the discretion of the occupants.
Transportation
Travel to here
Flights – For program members who are not bringing a vehicle, we will pay for your flight from where you are to Kettering and cover your airport pickup. You can purchase your flight and be reimbursed for the price of your ticket a few weeks after your arrival, or we can book and pay for your flight. To arrange us booking your flight, email Kaili Kimbrow at Kaili.Kimbrow@ketteringhealth.org. We begin booking travel starting now. You need to reach out to Kaili by 12:00pm EST, Friday, April 9 for us to book your flight.
If you decide to book your own flight and receive reimbursement after your arrival, you'll want to fly into the Dayton International Airport (DAY) in Dayton, Ohio. Move-In day is Monday, May 10, 2021. You must check-in at Kettering College between 9:00am and 6:00pm, May 10. Because of the timeframe, we recommend you book a flight that arrives no later than 4:00pm that day.
Gas – For those of you driving cars to Kettering, you will receive a stipend based on distance from Kettering College. To find out your stipend please email your starting address to Kaili Kimbrow at Kaili.Kimbrow@ketteringhealth.org. To be reimbursed for your travel expenses, you must submit your starting address by Friday, March 26. You will see the reimbursement added to your pay check.

You are responsible for your own transportation during the program. We strongly recommend you bring a vehicle. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions.

Background check & reference check
Dawn Conley, our Onboarding Specialist, will send out a background check consent form via email in the beginning of April for members moving in on the 1st Move-in Day and mid-May for members moving in on the 2nd Move-in Day. Please fill out the consent form as soon as possible after you receive it (be sure to check your Junk mail). If you have not received it, please email Dawn at Dawn.Conley@ketteringhealth.org.
Move-in day
This year there are two Move-in days. The first Move-in day is Monday, May 10 between 10:00am and 6:00pm. This is for Business Interns coming from schools that are not on the west coast, Nurse Externs in the 10-week cohort, and Nurse Externs in the 1st 5-week cohort. The second Move-in day is Monday, June 14 between 10:00am and 6:00pm for west coast Business Interns and Nurse Externs in the 2nd 5-week cohort.
As mentioned above, you will know where you will be assigned to stay mid-April. At that same time, a move-in sign-up sheet will be posted to this page to select a time within the time-period above for you to move in to your housing assignments. All program members will check-in at the Kettering College Lobby before moving in. The address to Kettering College is listed below:

Pre-Employment Services
May 10-14 or June 14-18 – In order to start employment at Kettering Health, every employee must complete a Pre-Employment Service (PES) appointment. After your background check and reference check are complete, Dawn Conley will call to schedule you for your PES appointment. You must bring your Important Employment Documents (listed above). During this appointment, you will be given a health screening, *a drug test, and your employee badge.
Welcome Weekend
The weekend of May 14-16, our team and Kettering family have great plans to welcome you to the community for the summer. This will be a great time of getting to know one another as well as the people who you’ll be working with and spending time with this summer. There will also be a 2nd welcome weekend June 18-20 for new members arriving that week.
Orientation
Orientation will be Monday & Tuesday, May 17-18 for members moving in on the 1st Move-in Day and Monday & Tuesday, June 21-22 for members moving in on the 2nd Move-in Day.
Please note: Our internship and externship opportunities are not just jobs, they’re programs. You are expected to attend all social activities, unless your absence has been pre-approved by the program coordinator, Joshua Stahl.

This is the app we will use to communicate with you over the course of the program. If you’d like to download it now in preparation, feel free.
Class (Externs only)
Once a week, Externs will participate in a 3-hour class to coincide with the clinical side of the program. Early-April, we will email you the course registration to be a student at Kettering College for the summer. You need to complete that when you receive it. This course is completely free of charge to you.
