The Cardiac EP registered nurse utilizes the nursing process in providing nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac catheterization, peripheral vascular and interventional procedures as well as electrophysiology studies. This is a highly stressful, very busy procedural area. Long periods of standing with lead apron use is required. Exposure to blood borne pathogens and radiation may occur. The Cardiac EP RN is primarily responsible for the monitoring of patients with appropriate documentation and the assisting of physicians in all procedures performed within the Cardiac EP Lab.
The Cardiac EP RN is accountable for his/her own professional development and practice within the scope of case defined by law. Utilizing organizational resources the RN acts as a patient advocate for the delivery of safe care including delegation of care and participation in performance and practice improvement activities. The delivery of nursing care within the Kettering Health Network reflects the missions, visions, values and philosophies, of the organization and nursing department.
The Cardiac EP nurse reports to the Cardiac Cath Lab/EP Lab Manager.
