Kettering Medical Center - Medical Oncology unit is a 26-private bed unit that provides general medical care to gastrointestinal, renal and vascular disease patient populations among many others. The specialty focus of care on the unit is oncology. 



Responsibilities & Requirements


  • The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process in providing nursing care to patients in all settings in collaboration with other interdisciplinary personnel. Utilizing organizational resources, the RN acts as a patient advocate for the delivery of safe care including delegation of care and participation in performance and practice improvement.
  • The RN actions and communications should reflect Kettering Health Networks mission, vision, values, and policies in interactions with patients, families, and coworkers.
  • Nursing duties on the medical oncology team include creation of individualized plans of care, symptom management of medical conditions, supportive psychological, spiritual and emotional care, education of patients and families, recognition and treatment of cancer-related issues including oncologic emergencies, and collaboration with the extended healthcare team including internal medicine hospitalists, specialists and medical resident physicians.
  • Attendance in chemotherapy/biotherapy certification course and subsequent administration of chemo/bio/targeted therapies is expected within 18 months of hire on the medical oncology unit.
  • The Registered Nurse reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.


Applicants Must Have: 

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • Licensed in the state of Ohio as a Registered Nurse
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification required within six months of hire

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in nursing is preferred (must be completed within 5 years of hire)
